How do successful people wake up each and every day and conquer their day?
Who doesn’t just want to hit the snooze button? Who doesn’t just want to sleep in? What makes you different though? What makes me want to count on you? What makes me want to look up to you? What makes you this great person you claim yourself to be?
Who doesn’t just want to eat pancakes and waffles instead of eggs and egg whites? Because let me tell you what, you can’t fully enjoy that pancake when your conscience is constantly eating at your guilt like “crap, I should be doing or eating something else that's better for me and in line with my goal(s)”. If your priorities aren’t where they are supposed to be, you’re going to feel depressed.
See there’s always a missing link in peoples’ lives that always contributes to depression. It’s called “personal growth”. Becoming a better YOU, and by affect, helping others become better. When you really think about it, it doesn’t matter how well you did in school last year, how much money you made last year, or how much muscle you gained last year. If you are stagnant, meaning you do the exact same thing this year, or if you actually worsen, you will feel depressed.
Think about it. What happens to a stagnant pond? It develops nasty bacteria and the habitat becomes contaminated. As opposed to a flowing river or ocean, which is vibrant and full of healthy life. The very premise of happiness is progress. Striving forward, climbing the mountain, getting up all the time, achieving goals, and adapting new skills, going to new places, learning more about life, the world and the way it works, and especially YOURSELF! Do you even know yourself? Who you are? What you’re made of? Have you really explored that?
The very premise of understanding who you are and what you can get through, is getting in touch with your body. People often think that the mind and body are so different from each other. Oh are they ever wrong. They mind and body and so interconnected. Your head is actually one tenth (1/10) to one twentieth (1/20) the size of your body. Your heart beats without you having to think about it. Wounds heal without you having to think about it. When you feel anxiety, where do you feel it? In your chest, right? You feel it in your body. When you feel down and in the dumps, you slouch, your head is down, and your breaths are shallow. On the contrary, when you feel certain and confident about something you walk with this high aura of confidence with your head held up, shoulders back, chest out, you have more energy.
How you feel is in your physiology. Greatness is not something you’re born with. It’s habitual. Routine. Also, a big piece of that progress is contribution. Giving back, being a mentor to someone, seeing them develop. There is a saying: “the teacher learns more than the student”. This is not just fitness; it’s a lifestyle. It’s the person you become! And that person you become emanates off into this certain type of spirit that you carry with you every day and people will gravitate towards you like a magnetic pull.
Leading by example is the best tribute you can ever pay to society. Every action influences those who are watching. Those around will follow soon, but it starts with YOU.
